This all started in preparation for my Europe trip, I stopped by the bank to purchase some euros. While informing the teller of how much I would need, he asked where I was going.
“Germany,” I said.

If you are planning to use your credit or debit card outside of state or country it's important to inform your bank so that your card is not shut down because of alleged identity thefts. A friend of mine was recently travelling recalls a horror story of credit cards being declined everywhere on her trip overseas.
Luckily with a call to the bank and an intense verification process all was well in the world again.
Moral of the story: Tell your bank where you are travelling and for how long so they don't assume identity fraud if and when you are travelling.
